Urwa Hocane: our dramas don't need Netflix
The Aap Ki Izzat star says calling a good local show "Netflix-quality" sells Pakistani drama short.
Urwa Hocane is tired of hearing good Pakistani dramas described as "Netflix-quality". Speaking on Gloss Etc with Maliha Rehman, she called the phrase lame and said: "We're doing better than that."
Hocane argued that Pakistani drama puts story ahead of glamour, and that commercial success follows a strong story rather than the other way round. She pointed to HUM TV's Aap Ki Izzat, in which she plays Beena, as proof that local shows can draw big audiences without extra spectacle.
