Hareem Farooq has wanted to make a Punjabi film for a decade, and with Mango Jutt she hopes to change how Punjab looks on screen. She told Arab News the film challenges the stereotype of the typical Punjabi heroine and moves past the image of earlier decades.

Farooq plays Noor Jehan opposite Faysal Quraishi and worked on her Punjabi accent for the role. "Even though it's in Punjabi language, it is not restricted to Punjab," she said. The film opened worldwide on 16 October.
