Javed Akhtar has spoken out against ridicule of Rashmika Mandanna's South Indian accent, writing that "fake and baseless linguistic superiority is not acceptable", Cinema Express reports. The lyricist initially called her a Tamil actor, acknowledged the error when users pointed to her Kannada background, and said his support was unchanged.

Actor Madhoo also praised Rashmika in an Instagram video for owning her accent on Koffee With Karan. Madhoo recalled fearing judgement as a South Indian when she entered Hindi cinema, even hiring an Urdu teacher, and said it took her decades to embrace her accent. Rashmika's action thriller Mysaa is slated for 27 November in India.
