Rehmat gives Punjabi literature an international stage
Selected for Locarno's main competition, Rehmat adapts short stories by Punjabi writer Ajeet Cour.

Selected for Locarno's main competition this year, Rehmat adapts short stories by Ajeet Cour. Gurvinder Singh's film brings together Naseeruddin Shah, Suvinder Vicky, Mita Vashisht, Navjot Randhawa and Anita Meet, alongside newcomers Diya Kamboj, Harwinder Aujla and Jaswant Zafar.
Its festival recognition, as the only Indian title in that competition according to reports, puts literary adaptation and reflective storytelling alongside the commercial franchises dominating much of Punjabi cinema's publicity.
