Ishqnama draws on the story documented in Hind Pak Bordernama, following love across the border between India and Pakistan. Jayy Randhawa and Shehnaaz Gill lead Arvvindr S Khaira’s film. Released in July, it places poetry, separation and emotional endurance at the centre of a romance shaped by circumstances far larger than its lovers.
Set in the early 1980s, it follows Nimma, a young Sikh poet from India, who falls for Naseema from Pakistan.
