A film debut at 60 makes Rehmat more interesting
Punjabi poet Jaswant Zafar makes his screen acting debut at 60 in Gurvinder Singh's Rehmat.
Celebrated Punjabi poet Jaswant Zafar, who also heads Punjab's Languages Department, makes his screen acting debut in Rehmat at 60. He plays Harjap, one of the film's three interconnected stories of displacement and grief, and director Gurvinder Singh told Variety India: "Zafar became Harjap for me."
It is a lovely counterpoint to youth-obsessed casting conversations: a first screen role can arrive after an entirely different professional life.
