James Cameron is still planning Christmases on Pandora
Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 remain pencilled in for December 2029 and December 2031.
The current Avatar calendar places the fourth film in December 2029 and the fifth in December 2031, although both dates remain tentative. Cameron has also spoken about finding ways to make the enormous productions faster and less expensive, and says he is weighing which other projects deserve his time.
Those are long-range plans rather than imminent appointments, but the ambition remains unmistakable. Pandora's next challenge may involve filmmaking economics almost as much as whatever threatens the Sully family.
