Hollywood turns the making of Rocky into its own underdog film
Peter Farrelly's I Play Rocky, about Sylvester Stallone's fight to star in his own script, opens wide in the US on 20 November 2026.
I Play Rocky follows the unknown actor who refused to accept that writing Rocky was enough: he wanted to play the lead himself. Peter Farrelly directs the story behind Sylvester Stallone's breakthrough, with a wide US release scheduled for 20 November 2026 after a limited run earlier in the month.
The original film made an unlikely fighter a legend. This one examines the gamble required to get him on screen.
