Australia's Cate Blanchett is returning as Valka in the live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2, reprising the character she voiced in animation. Mason Thames, Nico Parker and Gerard Butler also return, with the sequel scheduled for June 2027 in the US.
Hiccup's reunion with his long-lost mother gives the spectacle an emotional centre. Toothless will have to share the attention when Blanchett arrives.
