Anu Malik also singled out the show's large instrumental ensemble, saying its scale reminded him of the Mehboob Studios era and recordings such as Baazigar O Baazigar. "On this particular show, there were 100 musicians," he said, adding that around 10 is more usual.
For a singing competition, that shifts some attention towards the sound surrounding the contestants, giving their performances an unusually expansive musical setting.
