When Anupamaa came her way, Rupali Ganguly initially worried about losing weight and looking right for the role. With filming starting in three days, producer Rajan Shahi told her he wanted her the way she was. She now says the experience helped her separate appearance from acting ability and learn self-acceptance. A surprisingly candid admission from one of television's most recognisable faces.
Speaking at FICCI Frames 2026, Rupali said women often feel guilty about caring for themselves, and that playing Anupama has taught her self-love. "I accept myself, and that's what I have learnt from the show," she said.
