Devoleena defends Karwa Chauth
The actor says critics should not turn a couple's personal celebration into a debate about patriarchy.

Television actor Devoleena Bhattacharjee has defended women who choose to observe Karwa Chauth, pushing back at critics who link the fast to patriarchy. In a long note on X, reported by IANS, she argued that people who do not believe in the practice can simply not celebrate it, as long as nobody is forced.
She said she has never kept the fast herself, as it is not a tradition in Bengali or Assamese culture, but described it as a love language for many couples. Her husband asks each year whether she will fast, she wrote. She closed with a simple message: "Love is personal. Traditions are personal."
