Ghost of Yōtei developer Sucker Punch Productions has laid off 24 staff, roughly 10% of the studio, according to Game Developer. Aftermath first reported the cuts, which an internal email linked to challenges in the market and a review of the team's needs for its next project.

The news is uncomfortable given Ghost of Yōtei's commercial success, with GamesRadar noting the game sold millions of copies. It is another reminder that a successful release does not necessarily translate into job security for the people who made it. The studio's next project has not been announced.
