Saros has a surprisingly tasty sound-design secret
The alien ocean in Saros was built partly from recordings of marinated chicken, fried chicken and walnuts.

The audio team behind Housemarque's Saros has revealed that the game's alien ocean incorporates recordings of marinated chicken, fried chicken and walnuts shuffled around a bowl, according to a PlayStation Blog post by Senior Sound Design Supervisor Loïc Couthier. The first enemy players meet, a mechanical drone, is partly built from processed floppy disk recordings.
The results are designed to feel otherworldly, proving that unsettling science fiction can begin with some decidedly ordinary kitchen ingredients. It is also a reminder of how much invisible craft goes into making a game world sound alive.
